DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit's newest rooftop bar is opening just in time for the warm weather that's on the way to the area. The Monarch Club will open Saturday, May 11 at 4 p.m.
The bar is located in the Metropolitan Building at the top of the Element Hotel. The hotel opened in the building earlier this year after a $32 million construction project renovated the building that sat vacant for nearly 40 years.
The Monarch Club is primarily a cocktail lounge, but there will also be a menu of small plates for those looking to eat. They were crafted by Chef Jared Bobkin, who was a contestant on Hell's Kitchen season 15 as a finalist an season 17 as part of the All-Star Season.
The bar has both an inside and an outdoor portion on the roof, and it's unique because it has skyline views of the city in four directions.
It's owned by The Roxbury Group, whose projects include the David Whitney Building, the Griswold at Capitol Park, Cadillac House and much more.
They are not taking reservations for people, and when you arrive, they will do the best to accomodate you. To get inside, you must go in the hotel lobby and take the elevator up to the bar.
