(WXYZ) — A Michigan mom got some financial relief after struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to Taylor Swift.
According to The Washington Post, Shelbie Selewski is $2,100 behind on rent and utilities after losing her job as a medical receptionist in Macomb County.
The Washington Post reports that her landlord has taped eviction papers to her door three times and her electricity was shut off in September, on her son's third day of virtual kindergarten.
After the article was published in the Washington Post, Selewski launched a GoFundMe to help cover her expenses.
Singer Taylor Swift donated $13,000 after reading about Selewski in the newspaper.
"Shelbie, I'm sending you this gift after reading about you in the Washington Post," Swift wrote on the GoFundMe. "No one should have to feel the kind of stress that's been put on you. I hope you and your beautiful family have a great holiday season. Love, Taylor."
The GoFundMe has approximately collected $20,000 of its $26,000 goal.
