Teen accidentally shoots 14-year-old brother on Detroit's west side

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A 14-year-old boy is in temporary serious condition after his 15-year-old brother accidentally shot him Wednesday evening, police say.

The shooting happened in the 1200 block of Monica on the city's west side.

The 15-year-old was allegedly playing with a weapon when it discharged and hit his brother, according to a preliminary investigation by police. The weapon was recovered from the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
