SOUTHGATE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Southgate police say a 17-year-old girl confessed to lying about being stopped by a "fake cop."
On Feb. 28, she reported that she was stopped in the Area Street and Eureka Road by the "fake cop."
Police say it was found early in the investigation that the story was not matching up with the facts.
Over the weekend, the teen confessed.
Southgate police said charges will be filed against the teen for reporting and filing a false police report.
