CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 17-year-old has been arrested after allegedly making threats to shoot up a Clinton Township school of which he did not attend, school administrators say.
The alleged threat was made toward Wyandot Middle School. A letter was sent home to parents my administrators on Friday, Jan. 18.
A student at the school reported hearing the 17-year-old say he would shoot up the school. Clinton Township police then began an investigation and spoke to the suspect's parent. Officers also searched the home of the 17-year-old before placing him under arrest.
"The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority," Chippewa Valley Schools said in a letter to parents regarding the incident.
The 17-year-old is being charged with making a false threat of terrorism.
"This incident is a reminder that no threat against our schools will be tolerated and all threats will be thoroughly investigated," the school district added. "We encourage parents to remind their children to report threats or any situations that make them feel uncomfortable."
