(WXYZ) — A Detroit teen is facing charges after allegedly hitting an undercover detective's car on May 4.

Police say the detective's car was struck on the Southfield Freeway and fled. The vehicle exited the freeway with the detective following behind, turned onto a side street and came to an abrupt stop.

The suspect driver, identified by police as Omar Odale Brockman Jr., allegedly exited the vehicle holding a handgun by his side. A female passenger exited the vehicle and requested that the incident not be called in.

Police say the detective identified himself as a police officer and the driver returned to his vehicle and fled the area.

Detectives responded to investigate and learned the vehicle was reportedly rented fraudulently out of Pennsylvania. It was found in the Belleville area where Brockman Jr. was allegedly attempting to get the vehicle fixed.

Police arrested the two occupants on May 5. Detectives seized a handgun, multiple Michigan identification cards and credit cards from inside the vehicle.

Brockman has been charged with CCW, felonious assault, failure to stop at scene of property damage accident, reckless driving and brandishing a firearm in public.
