Police say the boyfriend of the 17-year-old who was shot at a home in Chesterfield Township on Monday remains in custody.

Police say the 21-year-old is the prime suspect in the shooting of 17-year-old Marche Lowe. Chesterfield Township police held a news conference Tuesday morning. The police chief told reporters that Marche Lowe is in "grave condition."

The boyfriend originally told police that a white male driving a Toyota was responsible for the shooting. Investigators determined that was false information. They originally took the boyfriend into custody on outstanding warrants. He is a 21-year-old male from Detroit.

Lowe was shot inside her house Monday afternoon.  A family friend and neighbor told 7 Action News that Lowe's mother said the teen was brain dead.

We're told Lowe attends Riverside Academy.

Police say they are no longer searching for anyone else in this case.

If you have any information regarding the shooting, call Chesterfield Township Police right away.

Formal charges are expected in the case.
