DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Bicycle bandits are striking a Dearborn Heights' neighborhood.

Homeowners near Sheahan and Rosemary are fed up after a spate of car break-ins. The most recent occurrence was on Monday around 2 a.m. Neighbors said it's been an ongoing issue for approximately six years or longer.

Surveillance video apparently shows two-wheeled criminals wearing backpacks and rummaging through cars for valuables.

Fadi Ashkr lives on the block. He said it's a seasonal crime for petty criminals in his community.

"They were checking the trunk, the handles, really just trying to get stuff in the car," Ashkr told Action News.

Police are on the hunt for the two individuals in the video described as teens.

"I know as a parent there is no way I am allowing my 14 or 15-year-old children ride their bicycle at two or three in the morning," Ashkr said.

Meantime, he and his neighbors are calling for more patrols. Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables from plain sight.

If you have any information about the suspects you're urged to call Dearborn Heights police.
