WARREN (WXYZ) — Warren police plan to bring felony charges against five teens who they say stole a Jeep and fled from police before being hit by an oncoming truck early Sunday.
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. in the area of Van Dyke and 11 Mile Road.
After allegedly stealing the vehicle, police attempted to pull the teens over. Instead, the driver sped up and ran a red light at an intersection before being hit by an oncoming truck going westbound on 11 Mile Road, police say. Another truck was also involved in the crash.
In total, seven people were taken to a hospital, including all five teens. The teen driver, a 16-year-old boy, is in critical condition. Two of the teens suffered broken legs and one had only cuts to the face. Another teen was not seriously hurt.
Two others involved in the crash are in stable condition at the hospital.
Police also found three guns on the teens. The investigation is ongoing.
