Vickie Lee was one of the first to begin the spooktacular displays, in part because the holiday doubles as her birthday. As she explains on the street’s website (I bet your street doesn’t have a website!), “when I decorated, most of the neighbors thought I was off my rocker.”
That was then, this is now — as more families moved in a dedicated group of homeowners decided to create a safe environment for kids while giving back.
Nowadays a few dozen homes take part in the festivities and it’s estimated that more than 20,000 people visit the street on Halloween alone.
It’s free to attend, but note that there are no public restrooms. Those who choose to visit are recommended to park in nearby streets in the Village of Romeo and walk to the displays.
