According to the United States Postal Service, Monday is the busiest mailing day of the year.

Millions of people are stopping by post offices to insure their packages make it to their destinations on time for the holidays.

The USPS says 12 million customers are visiting post offices or shipping stores today alone.

At Goin Postal in West Bloomfield, they say today might be busy, but they are planning on a busy week too.

“This year Chanukah and Christmas fall on the same day,” said owner Greg Gabbara.  “So after Christmas we are still going to be busy too.”

To ensure your holiday gifts reach your special someone’s doorstep in time, Gabbara says you should send it today or tomorrow.

According to USPS, the postal service expects to deliver 16 billion cards, letters, and packages over the holiday season.

Gabbara has one piece of advice to help you save some cash.

“Pack everything into one box,” said Gabbara.

According to Gabbara, it is cheaper to pack all items in one box.  He told 7 Action News initially, you are paying the most money for the first few pounds. Then it gets cheaper per pound after that.

According to Gabbara, if you use two different boxes you could be paying double the price.

Those at Goin Postal told 7 Action News while you may wait in long lines at the post office, they guarantee a very short wait at their store and they say they do all of the boxing for free.
