The worst Michigan city to drive in is not Detroit, study says

(WXYZ) — Well, if the worst Michigan city to drive in isn't Detroit, then which is it?

A study by financial news site 24/7 Wall St, identified Monroe as the worst city in Michigan to drive in.

Research found the city had 15.4 traffic fatalities per 100,000 people and a 25-minute average commute time with 92.4 percent of commuters driving to work. There were also 123.6 car thefts per 100,000 people in Monroe during 2017, according to the study.

The data is compared to these state of Michigan averages:

  • 10.3 traffic fatalities per 100,000 people
  • 24.3 minutes for the average commute time
  • 91.2 percent of commuters driving to work
