Since May 2017, there have been eight officer-involved shootings in metro Detroit.
Most recently, a 20-year-old man was shot and killed by Royal Oak police on Monday, May 14. According to police, Cody Reynolds had reportedly just assaulted both his mother and father before he was confronted by police near his home on the 1000 block of Hoffman.
This was the second officer-involved shooting in Royal Oak in recent months. On April 10, an officer shot and killed a man they say tried to drive at an officer's car at a White Castle near 13 Mile and Coolidge.
