WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — Two or three men broke into a liquor store in Warren overnight, stealing an ATM — one of at least two taking place overnight in metro Detroit.
Warren Police are investigating the break-in at Joe’s General Store near 9 Mile and Hoover. It appears the thieves used a stolen red Ford pickup in an attempt to pull the doors off the building, when that didn’t work they backed into the building and knocked the large concrete bricks over to gain entry.
The owners’ brother tells 7 Action News that the entire situation was caught on camera thanks to more than 30 cameras in and around the business.
The man noted there’s likely more damage to the building than money inside the ATM.
Police are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery at a check cashing store near 7 Mile and Telegraph, as well. Both happened before 3 a.m. Police were not available to comment whether they could be connected.
