Jury duty scams continue to find victims

The Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan is again warning of a telephone scam regarding missed jury duty.

The scam artist calls and tells the person that they missed jury duty and they must pay a fine immediately or they will be subject to arrest or a warrant will be issued for their arrest.

In some of the most recent scams, the caller says they are calling from Judge Robert J. Colombo Jr.’s office. The Third Circuit Court advises jurors that if they receive a call like this, it is not from Judge Colombo or anyone affiliated with the court.

Don’t respond to this call or pay any sum of money. Instead, get as much information as you can about the caller and report it to the local police department.

If you have missed jury duty you will not receive a call with these threats. You can contact the court if you missed your scheduled jury duty.
