(WXYZ) — When you gotta go, you gotta go.
Millions of Americans are hitting the road for this year's summer driving season and some times public restroom pit stops are inevitable.
Clean, quality restrooms continue to be a concern for families on the road. According to GasBuddy's 2019 summer travel survey, 40 percent of travelers fear needing to use the restroom but not knowing where to find a clean one, an increase of 3 percent from the previous year.
The good news – according to GasBuddy ratings and reviews, gas station restrooms are getting cleaner.
Since 2017, gas station bathroom ratings have improved by six percent, with Utah-based Maverik flushing the competition by claiming the top spot in six states – Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.
In Michigan, the top rated gas station is Holiday, according to the study.
The rankings were compiled from GasBuddy gas station ratings and reviews from Sept. 2016 to April 2019. And the brands needed to have at least 20 locations in a state to be included in the analysis.
