In our Thursday's Top 7, we spotlight the best activities, event and places across Metro Detroit and this week, we're checking out what’s on tap at the areas best breweries selected by you, our 7 Action News viewers.

We start in the top spot, Kuhnhenn Brewery in Warren.

If cold craft beers are red hot, then Kuhnhenn brewery in Warren is on fire. With beers like Immortal Undead, Annaliese Amber and BB Double Nut Brown, the nearly 20-year-old neighborhood spot is always searching for what’s next.

“It's the challenge of making something different and something special. They’re really into biology and chemistry," says Eric Kuhnhenn Senior.

The brewery is owned by brothers Brett and Eric Jr., but it was Dad behind the bar when we stopped by.

When his boys first started, Eric Sr. knew they were going against the grain.

“Friends of mine were saying are you sure that's going to work," says Eric Sr. “And I said well. Maybe not. We've got to do something different.”

And they did. The Kuhnhenn's pieced together a custom brewing system. Eric Sr. points to a large vat and says, “We bought that from Quaker Oats.”

Now make they make award-winning beer. Their brew is turning heads in Metro Detroit and increasingly around the world.

A regular Kuhnhenn visitor named Dave says, “Kuhnhenn is really is a good beer.”
