A major road closure this weekend will force you off the freeway.
Westbound I-696 is shut down completely between the I-275-96 interchange and Lahser Road.
The good news: after it's all done, your commute will soon be significantly less bumpy.
This is the first of two big weekend closures - crews will be patching a 9 Mile stretch of I-696.
This is part of the $75 million I-275 project.
The westbound lanes will re-open at 5 am Monday, but until then, you'll be one of thousands using one of the nearby mile roads instead, so give yourself extra time.
There is one more full weekend closure this summer that hasn't yet been scheduled
