After pounding Florida, Irma is heading north to Georgia and the Carolinas as it continues to affect flights along the path.

Travelers heading to Florida are dealing with cancelations at many airports, including Detroit Metro Airport.

About 3800 flights were cancelled in the U.S. on Monday, and more than 9,000 since Saturday.

The flights in and out of Florida have been affected and many airlines will assess the airports down there tonight and tomorrow morning.

Delta Flights out of Orlando could resume as early as tonight.

While flights from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa could resume tomorrow.

But, let's talk Georgia and the Carolinas.

Because of Tropical Storm Irma's high winds -- Delta has cancelled 900 flights today including many at their hub in Atlanta.

American Airlines cancelled about 300 - that's because their hub in Charlotte is also being affected by the winds.

Areas in the Caribbean are reeling from Irma -- and Delta says they've stepped up their humanitarian effort by operating a flight bringing in recovery supplies today and they brought out 150 U.S. citizens to Detroit earlier today.
