Part of a large tree came down in southwest Detroit late Thursday night and hit three cars.

It happened on Casgrain near Livernois.

One of the damaged cars belongs to Art Colon's daughter. He says he's been worried this tree would come down. "It's been a time bomb for many years," he says.

Colon says last year, he asked the city to take down that tree, but was told it was in good shape and didn't need to come down.

Other neighbors told Action News the tree was a huge concern for them because of the way it was leaning over the street.

The fallen tree blocked the road for several hours. Crews with Detroit's forestry division arrived around 8:30 on Friday morning and cleaned it all up quickly.

One of the city workers told Action News that the rest of tree is not rotten so it will not be torn down. He did agree with concerned neighbors who said the portion that broke off should have been trimmed in the past because of the way it was leaning.
