The civil trial regarding the death of 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones is scheduled to begin on April 8.
She was shot in the head while she slept on a couch during a raid in 2010. Joseph Weekley, a member of a police unit, was the first officer through the door of her home during a chaotic search for a murder suspect.
Weekley said he accidentally fired his gun during a struggle with Aiyana's grandmother. He has been tried twice for her death, with both trials resulting in hung juries.
"To date, the City of Detroit has refused to participate in good faith in any resolution regarding Aiyana's death and continue to deny the family justice," Fieger said in a press release.
