TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Troy School district is warning parents of high school students about a national "trend."

A business card encouraging students to use the "N" word is being circulated online. Officials say some Troy high school students have been exposed and some have shared it on social media and in person.

"In no uncertain terms, this does NOT reflect the values of our schools or our District, and we take this very seriously," the district said in an email to parents. "Ensuring a culture of inclusion and respect for all is a key component of the Troy School District, and we will not tolerate racial intimidation or harassment in any form. Any student found participating in distributing this card—or anything of this nature—will be held accountable, per our student Code of Conduct."

According to WJLA, in Potomac, Maryland, high school students were caught exchanging N-word passes stylized in the form of a "Golden Ticket." Troy officials say that what students saw was not a Golden Ticket by any means, but something related.

District officials informed parents so they could have conversations with their children before it became a widespread issue.
