Here's something you probably didn't know you needed.
A Troy business has developed and launched a Kickstarter campaign for their self-extinguishing candle jar.
“Every year, there are nearly 10,000 house fires in the United States caused by candles. The largest reason for these fires – an unattended or neglected candle,” said Stephen Butler, founder of Nirvana Candle. “Nirvana Candle limits this risk by capping the maximum amount of time your candle may be lit. This ensures that if you fall asleep, or leave the room, your candle is not burning for hours on end.”
Here how it works:
To use a Nirvana Candle, it’s as simple as pressing a button, lifting a lid, and lighting your candle. The hinged lid rests in a near vertical position while the candle is lit. After a predetermined time, the lid will automatically close – cutting off oxygen to the flame and extinguishing the candle.
Each Nirvana Candle offers more than 50 hours of burn time.
