DETROIT (WXYZ) — Southbound I-75 from 7 Mile Road to McNichols will be closed through Thursday morning after a truck hit the overpass.
MDOT officials say the earliest the area will open is Thursday morning due to bridge repair.
MDOT spokeswoman Diane Cross says repair crews are still working on the bridge, welding steel plates to repair a crack in a structural beam caused by yesterday's crash.
The freeway remains closed. They hope to have the freeway reopened sometime this morning.
For those that missed our warning about SB I 75 being closed at Seven Mile, there is quite a back up already and will continue through the night. Please avoid this section of I 75 until the bridge repair is complete. Below are a few photos of the crash that caused the damage. pic.twitter.com/VBzwUefIHl
