The woman accused of taking the most in the Detroit Public Schools bribery and kickback scandal was due in court today, but the hearing was later canceled.

A DPS vendor, assistant superintendent, and 12 principals are all charged with illegally lining their pockets through bribes and kickbacks.

Ex-Assistant Superintendent of Special Education Clara Flowers is accused of stealing more than $300,000.

Former principal Tanya Bowman is also expected in court soon.

Norman Shy, the accused vendor operator, is scheduled to appear at a hearing on a possible plea deal scheduled for May 12.

The head of the Education Achievement Authority blew the whistle on the corruption when it discovered one of its former leaders was involved.

If convicted, the accused could face up to 5 years in prison- and will be forced to pay restitution.
