TAYLOR, Mich. (WXYZ) — Two men looking to make off with guns and ammunition didn't get far, according to the store manager of Recoil Firearms Gun shop in Taylor.

Taylor police confirm the two were arrested Tuesday morning.

According to the store manager, the two men climbed a pole in the back to break in through the roof.

The shattered front door is deceiving — one may think this is how they got in. But it’s shattered from the inside — in an attempt to escape when police got to the scene.

The break-in happened around 2:30 Tuesday morning.

The store owner told 7 Action News reporter Ali Hoxie once the men got inside, they started collecting guns.

There were a number of hand guns and four long guns on the floor of the shop. The suspects also tried to take amo.

What these men did not count on was the building having an alarm that triggers a Taylor police response.

Police were waiting outside the building to take the two men— in there late teens or 20’s— into custody.

Recoil Firearms Gun Shop is expected to reopen later this morning.

Taylor police say there was a break-in at a gun store in Westland, although they had limited details on that break-in.
