Two people were found dead after a house fire on the border of Detroit and Hamtramck on Monday morning.

7 Action News has learned that the fire happened about 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Cody and Mitchell, just off Joseph Campau Ave.

Neighbors tell 7 Action News that squatters were staying in the vacant home and the flames are out. It was a 2-story, single-family home and the victims were found badly burned after a search.

One firefighter was injured after he fell through the floor near burned stairs. He hurt his elbow and was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital.
