Sterling Heights police say two people were shot during a home invasion early Sunday morning.

According to police, seven people were inside the home in the 2800 block of Groves Dr. near 16 Mile and Dequindre around 3:50 a.m. when they woke up to a loud bang.

Three masked men busted through the front door and went to the bedrooms, held the occupants at gunpoint and shot two of them. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they stole jewelry and exited through a hole left by the door they kicked in.

When police arrived on scene, they searched for the suspects and used a K-9 but were not successful in finding them.

According to police, they believe the house was targeted.

Right now, anyone with information is asked to call police at 586-446-2847.
