Uber is making a commitment to its drivers. Over the next 180 days the company says it will be making "meaningful changes & improvements" to the driving experience.
The first round of changes were announced on Tuesday and will focus on earnings.
- Tipping is coming to the app. Right now it's available in Seattle, Minneapolis and Houston but will roll out to all cities by the end of July.
- Drivers will receive a cancellation fee if the rider cancels after more than 2 minutes. Previously the window was 5 minutes.
- Drivers will now earn a per-minute rate if you wait for a rider, starting 2 minutes after arrival.
- All driver destination trips count toward Quest.
- All Quest earnings are available for instant pay.
- Expanded driver destinations will allow drivers to set two trips going the direction you want.
- Drivers will now have injury protection insurance. Drivers will now earn a bit more per-mile to help take advantage of the option.
- Teen's using Uber will now be changed an additional $2
