Uber seems to be on a mission to make driving for the ride sharing company a bit more convenient.

From options for on-the-way pick-ups to a pause button, Uber plans to add some more luster to its driver app.

Let's break down some of the planned updates:

Now, drivers who have somewhere to be, will be able to pick up passengers on the way to their destination. Twice a day, drivers can input where they're headed and they'll only get trip requests along the route.

Another feature, which will be piloted, is the pause button. It lets drivers put a hold on service if they just want to grab some grub or take a breather without having to decline requests before dropping off their last rider.

The one policy that could affect riders is all about the wait time. If you leave your Uber driver waiting for more than 2 minutes, you'll now have to pay for that extra time.

Uber notes that these features and policies will be rolled out or tested in a number of U.S. cities with expansion planned soon.

I reached out to Uber to see if Detroit will be included in those initial cities for the features and policies listed above. They said we'd have to stay tuned.

Here's a look at more of the planned updates.
