Veteran, dad originally from MI missing in CA

A father of three and a veteran of the United States Air Force who is originally from Michigan went missing in Hermosa Beach, Calif. on Saturday, March 5. Police say he went missing under suspicious circumstances.

Hermosa Beach police say Michael VanZandt visited the Pier Plaza area of Hermosa Beach on Saturday night. His friends last saw him about 10:15 p.m. as he left the line at a bar and started walking toward a liquor store.

Police say he has not been seen or heard from since.

According to ABC7 in Los Angeles, VanZandt and his friends were watching the UFC fight earlier in the night and rented a hotel room to avoid driving home.

ABC7 also reports that he works at Edwards Air Force Base, and his brother, Tyler, said his friends tried to call VanZandt at least 22 times.

He is described as a white male, 6-feet-tall weighing 190 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. He also has thre tattoos. There is one of a tiger in the jungle on his left bicep and shoulder, a small picture of Buddha on his back and spine, and "KEATON" in descending letters on his left calf.
