A man is recovering after being jumped and carjacked on the Detroit's west side early Sunday morning.

The victim is the son of a Detroit police officer.

We're told the 20-year old was leaving a Coney Island restaurant on Puritan when four men ran up, attacked him, took his food and then fled in his 2011 silver Ford Focus.

"They just ran up on me, punched me in the face...took my keys, my food, got in my car and drove towards the Fenkel area," said victim Trevon Standifer.

Standifer's dad responded in minutes and took his son to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

A surveillance camera at the business could've provided some help to police, but it wasn't working at the time. That could cost the restaurant because of a new city ordinance requiring certain businesses to have operational surveillance systems.

HEAT or "Help Eliminate Auto Theft" is providing a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects behind this latest carjacking.

If you have any information, call police.
