A vigil was held Sunday afternoon for a Lake Orion teen who was shot in the head at a friend's home in Pontiac last weekend.

14-year-old Solomon Bonner was at a home last Saturday night when the shooting had occurred, police said.

After interviewing the teens, police identified his 14-year-old best friend as the shooter. They also found a .32-caliber handgun in the backyard.

Family members said Bonner was a gifted athlete, who was most recently a quarterback and running back for the Pontiac Panthers football team.

"He was always willing to be a leader on the field, outside of the field; he was just always positive," said Coach Kenneth Wade. "He was a great kid.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral and medical expenses. If you would like to donate, click here.
