Warby Parker,an eyewear company that grew to popularity online, has announced it will be opening its first Detroit storefront in the old Vernor's Pharmacy building on Woodward later this month.

The shop, which is designed to give off a cozy bookstore vibe, will feature grey and white terrazzo tiling, a 16-foot domed ceiling and walnut shelving with books from independent publishers.

To pay homage to the building's history, Warby Parker will also be serving Vernor's Ginger Soda to its customers, according to the company.

“We’re excited to open up shop in a great American city with so much history (Architectural history! Musical history! Cultural history!). The youthful creative energy and innovation in Detroit is truly special. And of course we’re finally realizing our childhood dreams of being able to drink soda at all hours without supervision, thanks to Michigan’s favorite—Vernors Soda,” says Neil Blumenthal, Warby Parker co-CEO and co-founder, in a statement.

The company says the Woodward location will have an optometrist on site, and people can book appointments in advance online. It will also be re-releasing its York frame to sell exclusively at Detroit's store for a short time.

The grand opening for the store at 1449 Woodward Avenue is set for November 26. The store hours will be Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
