WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — Warren Mayor Jim Fouts is warning seniors of a scam after a woman was conned out of $5,000.
Fouts said a man claimed he would install a fence, but took the money and disappeared.
Fouts said to never do business with anyone who comes to the door unsolicited and don't give cash, checks or money orders to anyone you've just met.
He also said to be cautious if the deal sounds too good to be true.
Fouts said seniors who are suspicious about people who come to the door should call the Warren Police Senior Scam Unit.
