Warren police shoot burglary suspect after wild chase ends in Detroit

Warren police say three suspects in multiple commercial break-ins are in custody following a police chase and crash that ended on Detroit's east side.

According to police, a special operations crew with other jurisdictions identified the suspects around 2:30 a.m. and followed the crew into the city of Warren where they tried to break into a business.

They then followed them to another location and found out they were using a stolen vehicle. When the suspects failed to get into the second business, officers confronted them.

Police say the suspects tried to run down the officers and officers opened fire, hitting one of the suspects.

They took off and the chase went from Warren before ending near Conner and I-94 on the city's east side. Three people are in custody.

Police believe the suspects are responsible for at least 10 break-ins in the tri-county area.

A wild police chase that started in Warren came to a crashing end in Detroit with Warren police shooting a burglary suspect.

According to police, it started in Warren near 13 Mile and Warren and came to an end on Conner near I-94 on the city's east side.

Officers chased the Jeep from Warren down I-696 to I-94. We're told the the Jeep and suspects allegedly broke into a Family Dollar in Warren early Thursday morning.

The suspects allegedly were getting on and off the freeway during the chase but it ended with a crash.

Police say the suspects tried to run over one of the officers, who opened fire and shot one of the suspects. We're told the suspect's injuries are not life threatening.

Right now, the entire area is closed while police continue their investigation.
