(WXYZ) — The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department is searching for someone who pretended to be a police officer and conducted a traffic stop.

Deputies say they were notified about the situation at around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 11 by a 26-year-old Ypsilanti man who contacted Washtenaw County Dispatch to say he had just been involved in a suspicious traffic stop. The stop happened in the area of Prospect and Geddes.

The man reported he had been pulled over by someone claiming to be an officer with the Ypsilanti Police Department. The male subject was wearing a hat with a star logo and black exterior vest with "Agent" on the front and a badge.

The caller told police the subject was evasive when he asked why he was being pulled over. Because of this, the man drove off. The subject then fled the scene.

The subject was driving a vehicle that had red and blue lights. It is described as a newer model black Chevy Impala.
