Police in Texas say a woman has been arrested after she allegedly broke out of handcuffs and stole a police car over the weekend.
According to police, it all started when 33-year-old Toscha Sponsler allegedly ran away on foot after a call of a shoplifter at Ulta.
Police officers handcuffed her and seat-belted her into the back of a patrol car.
While officers were going through her bag of stolen goods, she allegedly removed her seat belt, broke free of the handcuffs, climbed through the window and stole the cop car.
She led officers on a 23-minute chase with speeds reaching up to 100 mph. police say she allegedly tried to reach for the officer's shotgun which was mechanically locked to the car.
It ended with officers used a PIT maneuver and she lost control of her vehicle.
She was eventually arrested and charged escape causing serious bodily injury/threat of a deadly weapon, aggravated assault against a public servant, possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest with a vehicle with a previous conviction and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
