CANTON, Mich. (WXYZ) — Jason Michael Wilkinson was arraigned Tuesday in 35th District Court on two charges related to a residential structure fire that occurred on Claremont Drive back in February.
Wilkinson, 38 from Waterford, was charged with second degree Arson, a 20-year felony; and arson– preparation to burn a dwelling, a 10-year felony; and habitual offender fourth offense. His bond was set at $500,000, with his next court appearance scheduled for December 20.
The Police and Fire Department conducted a lengthy investigation into the suspicious fire, resulting in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office filing chargeds against Wilkinson who had been contracted to perform work on the home.
The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire, but suffered significant loss of property and damage inside the residence, police say.
