YPSILANTI, Mich. (WXYZ) — A dangerous situation unfolded at a Lowe's parking in Ypsilanti Tuesday, and it was caught on camera by Marcel Hillier.

"This lady chases people out into this parking lot," Hillier said.

The video shows a customer jump onto the hood of a moving vehicle in an attempt to stop shoplifters according to police.

Hillier said he was in disbelief.

"She just did not want to let them go and she was calling people to help," Hillier said.

Police report the driver and two passengers are wanted for stealing power tools from the hardware store on Monday around 4:30 in the afternoon.

In the video you see the unidentified woman jump on the hood as other vehicles attempt to block the car from leaving the parking lot.

"Once they stopped... she got off the car and they took off," Hillier said.

Police encourage bystanders to refrain from stopping criminal activity.
