Police say a 26-year-old woman who was sheltering her friend with her children was killed during a barricaded gunman situation on Detroit's west side this morning.
We're told the friend had recently received a personal protection order against her 37-year-old ex-boyfriend when he stormed into the home in the 2600 block of Wreford.

After police arrived on the scene after reports of shots fired, the incident turned into a barricaded gunman situation.
There were reportedly four people in the house when the gunman came in. Police say the suspect shot his 28-year-old ex-girlfriend three times, but she was somehow able to make it out of the house with her 11-year-old child.
She was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to be OK.
When the special response team made entry, they reportedly found the suspect and the ex-girlfriend's friend dead. A 9-day-old child was found alive, but suffering from hypothermia.
Police say the suspect has a violent criminal past.
The kids who were inside the home at the time of the shooting were his, according to police.
