Detroit police say a woman was killed and a man was injured after both were shot while they were traveling in a vehicle on the Lodge service drive near 8 Mile and Greenfield around midnight on the city's west side.
Police say the 26-year-old woman was the driver. After she was hit, police say she crashed the vehicle into another car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family has identified the victim as Ranita Cannon. Family members tell 7 Action News she was driving her grandmother's 2008 Pontiac G5. They say they aren't sure on the identity of the man she was traveling with at the time of the shooting.
Police say that man is now being treated at a nearby hospital for his injuries.
