LAKE ST. CLAIR, Mich. (WXYZ) — Ready for top anglers wranglin' in record fish catches?
Good news: The Bassmaster Elite is heading to Lake St. Clair from Thursday, Aug. 20 to Sunday, Aug. 23.
You'll see 85 of the top bass anglers in the world go against one another as they compete for the $100,000 first-place prize and a total purse of more than $700,000.
It will mark the eighth time B.A.S.S. has brought a major event to St. Clair since 1994, which finished No. 4 on Bassmaster Magazine’s recently released Best Bass Lakes of the Decade list.
In the most recent derby, the 2019 Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year Championship Minnesota pro Seth Feider had a massive three-day, 15 fish total weight of 77 pounds, 15 ounces.
Two Elite Series pros call Michigan home — Garrett Paquette of Canton and Chad Pipkens of Lansing. Pipkens is currently ranked No. 8 in the Angler of the Year points race.
Weigh-ins will be aired on Bassmaster.com.
Due to COVID-19, fans and spectators are not allowed to attend the event under guidelines for professional sports from the state of Michigan.
