DETROIT (WXYZ) — A Detroit family is pleading for a killer to be taken off the streets after their loved one was gunned down on the city's west side.

There is now a cash reward for $2,500 for info that leads to an arrest in the case.

"We’re here today in memory of Winston Davis Williams," one family member said during a Crime Stoppers press conference Thursday.

Fighting back tears, loved ones of 20-year-old Winston Williams say he had his entire life ahead of him. Unfortunately, a cowardly and cold-blooded killer gunned down the young man after an alleged gun deal went wrong on April 16, which was the day after Winston's birthday.

It happened near Plymouth Road on Asbury Park, not far from the Southfield Freeway.

Demar Pernell, 15, has been charged in connection with the crime. However, police need help tracking down a second person allegedly involved. That second suspect is only identified by his street name "Stacks."

"Winston was a great son," his mother Sheilah Williams said. "Loving. Compassionate. Everyday, before he went to work he always told us how much he loved us."

Winston was found lying unresponsive in the alley, and pronounced dead at the hospital. The suspect now on the run is described as 5 foot, 8 inches to 5 foot, 9 inches tall. He's small built and is believed to be part of the "Jack Boys" street gang.

Anyone with information can stay anonymous and be eligible for the reward. Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
