(WXYZ) — The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is looking for information after an Ypsilanti woman was carjacked in broad daylight after posting a for sale ad on Craigslist.

A lot of people sell vehicles on social media sites. One Ypsilanti woman thought after posting her car for sale on Craigslist she would soon hear from potential buyers. Well, she finally did, but it wasn't a buyer. Instead, it was a couple of thieves.

"She was a wreck. She was shaking," said Jon Waltz , who helped the woman.

Waltz was supposed to be out running errands Tuesday, but he wanted to make a quick bite to eat first.

"I was inside my house about to get ready to cook lunch and I heard a frantic knock on my door, sounded like someone laughing," Waltz said. "When I got to the door I could tell someone was sobbing so I opened the door and could tell this was something serious."

It was just before 2 p.m. An Ypsilanti woman met a couple in their 20s who were interested in buying her car after she posted it for sale on Craigslist.

"She had mentioned (they placed a) gun in her back and told her to get out and took off with the car," Waltz recalled.

Dispatch from Broadcastify describes the suspects involved.

"Two suspects, one's going to be a black male, short hair, black sweatshirt jeans," according to dispatch audio. "He was originally a passenger during the test drive of the vehicle then jumped into the driver's seat. Suspect two is going to be a black female wearing a black tank top and jeans."

It happened at the intersection of Elder Street and Highland Court. Waltz thinks the carjackers may have been from out of town and didn’t realize what street they turned on.

"Maybe they didn’t know that this was a dead end street," Waltz said. "It’s not dead end at one end, it’s only dead end up here."

Waltz says he’s glad he was home at the time and able to help the woman out.

"Hey, she didn’t get injured," he said. "They didn’t hurt her. If you can walk away from it with your life, you did the right thing."

So far no one has been arrested and this case remains under investigation.
