How to rock your Linkedin profile page to help you land the best job

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - (WXYZ) — As Michigan begins to re-open and businesses are ready to start hiring again, we wanted to offer some helpful hints so with over 675 million members- we went to the professional network Linkedin to see what the best practices they suggest to land the best job.

"It's certainly a challenging job market right now, there's no doubt about that, but there are job opportunities available," said Career Expert Blair Heitmann.

"We know the profile's with the photo are 21 times more likely to get reached out to by hiring managers and your network so it's a great opportunity to a add a photo," said Heitmann.

"Your picture should be clear, well lit, with a plain background and make sure your face is in the centered in the frame leaving ample space above and below you head," added Heitmann.

"It's not the time have your cat in the photo," said Heitmann.

"Your headline is a moment, to, to grab the attention of your audience as what you're interested in doing. It could be I'm seeking out opportunities," said Heitmann.

Heitmann says here comes the elevator pitch called the summary; that's the real estate right below your photo and headline where someone can quickly learn about you.

"We encourage professionals to add 40 words or more so you come up in those recruiter searches and use it as a moment to talk about who you are as a professional and what you're interested in," said Heitmann.

Adding your education will get 17 times more messages from recruiters.

Remember, stay active with your past whether it's reconnecting on Linkedin, engaging on social media or sharing a relevant articles with former colleagues.
