DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police arrested a 25-year-old rideshare driver after one of his passengers accused him of sexually assaulting her early Tuesday morning. That suspect was arrested the same day in Clinton Township.
On Thursday, Detroit police said a warrant request has been submitted to the prosecutor's office.
The case involves a 38-year-old woman who told police that the rideshare driver picked her up in Westland around 4 a.m. He then took her to a residence in Detroit on the 8000 block of East Jefferson (Van Dyke area) where she was sexually assaulted.
It's unclear if the woman's destination was in the same area where the alleged assault took place.
