Detroit Tigers Manager Brad Ausmus spoke to beat reporters in Lakeland, Fla. covering Spring Training on Tuesday, with some big news about opening day.

According to beat reporters, Verlander will "probably" be the opening day starter, which would be his eighth time starting the season for the Tigers.

After missing the first half of the season last year, Verlander returned pitching like fans had not seen since 2012.
In 20 games started, Verlander had a 3.38 ERA, giving up 113 hits, 56 runs, 13 home runs and striking out 113.
