Miguel Cabrera in the media after baseball? Don't count on it

Posted

DETROIT (WXYZ) -- During a product launch for "Miggy's Bitbits" this week, Miguel Cabrera discussed his long-term future after baseball.

"Mr. Al (Avila) is gonna give me a job," Cabrera grinned toward a room of laughing reporters at Comerica Park. "Assistant, special assistant."

All kidding aside, Cabrera says he wants to remain in the game in some capacity once his playing days eventually come to an end.

"It's something I love, it's something I want to do all my life, to be a part of the baseball family."

However, Cabrera made it clear there's at least one avenue he won't be pursuing following his on-field career: broadcasting.

"No, no, no," Cabrera said with another grin in response to a question about joining the media someday. "I don't like to talk, I don't like to write. You guys do a good job, doing that every day, that's hard."
