DETROIT (WXYZ) -- Justin Verlander was named the American League Pitcher of the Month for July, the team announced on Wednesday.
In six July starts, Verlander went 4-0 with a 1.69 ERA. Verlander's 48 strikeouts during that time ranked first among AL pitchers.
Verlander is 11-6 on the season with a 3.54 ERA and 155 strikeouts.
